Trim Levels (Exterior)
You can get the 2023 Ford Explorer in eight trims: Base, XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, Limited, ST, King Ranch, and Platinum. Starting with the Base, you get a power liftgate, LED headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The XLT adds roof rails and heated outside mirrors. On the ST-Line, you'll find a black grille and black exterior trim with power-folding outside mirrors, dark-tinted headlights and taillights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The Timberline is off-road-ready with front tow hooks, underbody skid plates, unique front styling, and 18-inch black alloy wheels with all-terrain tires. The Limited gets you a hands-free power liftgate, chrome exterior trim, and 20-inch alloy wheels in a bright finish. You get quad exhaust outlets on the ST and exterior approach lighting on the King Ranch. The top-of-the-line Platinum features a satin aluminum grille and exterior trim with 21-inch alloy wheels in a polished finish.
Engine (Power)
Ford offers three engines for the 2023 Explorer, depending on trim level. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.3-liter with 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. A turbocharged 3-liter V-6 is equipped in the ST and King Ranch trims, and it pumps out 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The V-6 is also available on the Platinum, with a 318-horsepower 3.3-liter V-6 hybrid as its standard engine. You can also outfit your Limited trim with the hybrid engine.
Performance
You'll find many performance-enhancing features on the 2023 Ford Explorer. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all trims except the Timberline, which has a standard four-wheel-drive system. The four-wheel drive is available on the other trims for better control and traction. Customize your drive to fit your mood or conditions using the drive mode select. You can choose Normal, Sport, Eco, Trail, Slippery, Tow/Haul, and Snow/Sand. The Timberline offers better off-road performance with an off-road suspension, limited-slip differential, and added ground clearance.
Interior
Climb inside the 2023 Ford Explorer to enjoy a comfortable and convenient interior design. On the Base, you'll find triple-zone automatic climate control, cloth seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a six-speaker stereo, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
