The Truck of Authority
The Ford F-150 pickup truck comes in a wide range of configurations and trims and offers a choice of engines. With so much to choose from, this truck will fit anyone's needs and lifestyle. For the 2022 model year, a new Black Appearance Package arrives for the XL, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum trims, and a package with a tailgate step and locking tie-downs is now available for the high-end trims. Ford also adds a new exterior color option for the 2022 F-150.
Interior
Inside, there's room for up to six in the F-150, depending on the cab size. Choosing the base XL gets you the basics in the cabin, but this truck can be downright luxurious if you have a higher trim. The Lariat has leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and power-adjustable pedals, and the Limited comes with massaging front seats. A huge 12-inch touch screen comes in the Lariat and above, and all trims have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging is available in the higher trims, and you can also get an eight-speaker stereo or an 18-speaker stereo. In addition, Ford's Pro Power Onboard system is available for some trims and adds an in-bed power system with three different power ratings.
Performance
Towing capacity starts with 8,200 pounds with the base V-6 and goes all the way up to 14,000 pounds with the 3.5-liter V-6. The diesel can tow up to 12,100 pounds. The F-150 can handle up to 3,250 pounds if you need payload capacity.
Safety Features
All F-150 trims have a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, and a forward-collision warning system with automatic braking. The XLT and up add a blind-spot monitor, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist. Stepping up a few trims to the King Ranch adds adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist. If you have the Limited, it comes with Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0. This includes Ford BlueCruise, a hands-free driving system for certain highways across North America.
Engine (Power)
There are several engines to choose from with the F-150. The base is a 3.3-liter V-6 with 290 horsepower; from there, you can get the 2.7-liter turbo V-6 with 325 horsepower or the 5.0-liter V-8 with 400 horsepower. A 3.5-liter V-6, along with a Raptor-specific version of this engine, is optional.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The F-150 XL is the entry-level trim. It has 17-inch steel wheels, pre-wired trailer connectors, and manual-adjustable mirrors. The XLT adds to this with alloy wheels, fog lights, and a power-locking tailgate. Step up to the Lariat for 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting in the bed, and a Class IV trailer hitch. Another bump to the King Ranch adds LED taillights and headlights, and the Platinum adds 20-inch alloy wheels. Choose the upscale Limited for 22-inch polished alloy wheels, power-deployable running boards, a two-panel moonroof, and a power tailgate. The F-150 Tremor is one of the off-road models. It has 33-inch all-terrain tires and an off-road suspension. You can also get the Raptor with 35-inch all-terrain tires, Raptor fender flares and grille, and FOX shocks.
